A product of divorce - Fiona was surrendered to MLDHS for rehoming; She is a female shihtzu/terrier possibly poodle cross - approx 3-4 years old. An inside dog, house trained, kennel trained, good with kids, seniors and other dogs, including big dogs. Is timid in new situations, and may have been mistreated in her past as she's nervous of loud voices or being grabbed unexpectedly. She will bark at strangers once she's settled into a home and can be protective of her person around other dogs. She is good when being groomed and really just wants to be loved; she really enjoys being cuddled. Fiona had been taken into a foster home with a cockerspaniel and two young kids under the age of 7. She does very well with the dog and loves the kids (slept with the daughter) though she did eventually become protective of the daughter and had to come back to the shelter late November because of that. She should maybe go into a home where there are not young kids - despite her liking kids generally- but just in case she gets protective of one child over another as eventually happened in her foster home. She would probably do well in a home with adults who want a lap dog to snuggle on the couch with. She isn't too happy at the shelter not being able to spend time with people, so we'd love to find her a home asap. She's already spayed so can go to that new home right away.
